The European Security Summit

In July 2020, the European Commission released its new security strategy, updating the EU’s policy approach to reflect the reality that security threats that were once disparate and unconnected, are today explicitly linked. The principle connecting thread here is cyber and digital, both from a threat and solutions perspective. This Forum Europe Security Summit brought together the policy strands of this strategy, alongside those involved in delivering new architectures and solutions, providing an important space for stakeholders across the globe to debate, network and connect at this critical juncture.

7th Annual European Cyber Security Conference 2019

Despite an increased focus on cyber security at EU level and worldwide, the number, level of sophistication and the differing nature of cyber incidents are on the rise. In an era where the interaction between the technology and the physical worlds is growing, where connected devices and systems are proliferating and a number of sectors are going through digitization processes, it is vital that technical solutions and regulations remain adapted to emerging and evolving cyber threats.

Gathering leading policy-makers, industry players and high level cyber security and defence experts, the 7th Annual European Cyber Security Conference organised by Forum Europe debated what Europe’s response to evolving threats in a dynamic global risk landscape should look like and what the next steps for all actors of the ecosystem should be to create a safe and secure cyber environment allowing Europe to leverage the tremendous socio-economic benefits offered by digital technologies.

6th Annual European Cyber Security Conference 2018

Forming the backbone of the European economy, digital technologies are transforming the way businesses operate, how citizens connect and exchange information, and how they interact with public institutions and private organisations. – This transformation demands a robust, secure, and resilient digital network infrastructure. With cyber security incidents on the rise in both their sophistication and frequency, often posing both business and reputational risks through negative news headlines and infrastructure compromise, it is vital for all stakeholders of the ecosystem to work together to find ways to secure network and information systems in Europe to improve preparedness resilience, deterrence and defence in an era where both critical infrastructures and democratic processes are under threat.

Gathering leading policy-makers, industry players and high level cyber security and defence experts, this 6th annual Forum Europe conference explored Europe’s response to a dynamically evolving global risk landscape.

Topics  discussed at this event:

  • What are Europe’s current and future policy objectives in the field of cyber security?
  • Securing the Industrial Internet: responsibilities in the connected ecosystem
  • Building effective cyber deterrence and protecting our democratic processes at EU and global level: cooperation, detection, attribution and prosecution

5th Annual European Cyber Security Conference 2017

In a hyper-connected world where the functioning of our economies and democratic processes rely on a secure and resilient cyberspace, our societies are increasingly becoming vulnerable to cyber incidents, with attacks growing in both their sophistication and frequency, causing significant damage. To respond to the ever-growing diversity and virulence of cyber threats, Europe has undertaken, in past years, several key actions in order to create a trustworthy cyber ecosystem.

Following the review of the European Cyber Security Strategy in September 2017, the 5th edition of this conference provided an opportunity to take stock of what had been achieved, and more crucially to explore the next steps in fostering, a secure digital environment where all economic actors and citizens could safely take advantage of the benefits offered by digital in Europe.

These discussions were held in the context of continued technological innovation, of the digital transformation of our industries and of global political developments regarding the responsible use of the digital space.
